“Tough times don’t last, but tough people do” – Robert H. Schuller
We all go through tough times in life. Some more frequent, while others more intense. However, it is these difficult periods that make us stronger individuals, and more capable to deal with future situations. More specifically, these times enable us to strengthen our ability to operate under significant levels of pressure in the future.
Difficult times can come in many shapes or forms, or even a combination of challenges at the same time. Therefore, by identifying the degree of difficulty should be the first action when you enter the tunnel.
However, a good mentality for these periods is to see them as opportunities to become better; not difficult times that only time can solve.
This links to a fantastic quote by Vivian Greene; “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass… It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” Here, Greene is implying that you should embrace these opportunities in disguise – exactly what I’m getting at.
With the above in mind, any situation that you class difficult – or even moderately difficult – will become easier to deal with. Since your capacity to operate will have increased. Even situations you can easily deal with will become as simple as making breakfast.
There are several ways to overcome tough situations. Below are a selection of methods which should be utilised:
- Set priorities on what needs to be done
- Utilise your connections (friends and family etc.)
- Maintain a focus on the tasks at hand (minimise distractions
We also enter tough times in order to achieve a better way of living. Therefore, it is a good idea to practice your ability in such situations. Put yourself in difficult situations to prepare for future occasions. Just remember, the tough times won’t last, but you will.
Now, of course it’s not always a good idea to put yourself into difficult situations, so make sure you are flexible with time, and both physically and financially stable. Ways in which you could start are by volunteering, speaking in front of an audience, or even investing in projects and ideas.
