What do you know about the Year of the Pig? People born on this year have the lucky numbers, 2, 5 and 8; and lucky colours include yellow, grey, gold and brown. However, something more significant is the type of pig – Earth Pig! With one of their characteristics compatible with a strong sense of time keeping, we are reminiscing on our favorite Chinese-themed tracks of the last decade.

Autumn Leaves – Chris Brown ft. Kendrick Lamar

Fresh out of his sixth studio album, Chris Brown teams up with Kendrick Lamar for this oriental-themed track. Breezy’s smooth vocals lead this melancholic tune up to the highly anticipated verse of K.Dot – and it doesn’t disappoint!

Stir Fry – Migos

Not only did this track lead the NBA All-star weekend, but it also featured in their award-winning studio album, Culture II. The tune – and certainly it’s video – make you feel like your watching Rush Hour again, thanks to the brilliant mix of American and Chinese culture. I mean, who doesn’t want to see the Migos performing Kung-Fu!

Outside – The Weeknd

Outside is a track with an Eastern-aesthetic beat crafted by Canadian producer, Illangelo, and released by The Weeknd; but prior to his more established music. The track belongs to the Echoes of Silence mix-tape which was released in 2011. Although it’s 8 years old, Outside still holds that enchanting atmosphere to it, which of course, is accompanied by delicate vocals and interesting metaphors – something to ease your stomach as you enter the Year of the Pig.

These are undoubtedly ones to have on repeat. Though, do let us know if any other Chinese-themed tunes should’ve mad the list.

Happy New Year!
